Regulatory Information
This page sets out information we are required to make available to current and prospective clients as a registered tax agent, under section 45 of the Tax Agent Services (Code of Professional Conduct) Determination 2024.
Our registration
TAV & Partners Pty Ltd is a registered tax agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), registration number 26369360. Tax agent services are provided under the supervision of Vivien Tang, Chartered Accountant and Registered Tax Agent.
The TPB register
The TPB maintains a public register of registered tax agents and BAS agents. You can search the register — including our registration — at www.tpb.gov.au/public-register. The register records each practitioner's registration details and any conditions that apply to their registration.
If you have a concern about our services
If you have a concern or complaint about a tax agent service we have provided, please raise it with us first. You can contact us at contactus@tavpartners.com.au or by writing to Level 17, 175 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it, and respond to you in writing within a reasonable period.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Tax Practitioners Board. Complaints can be made online at www.tpb.gov.au/complaints. The TPB will consider whether the complaint raises an issue under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 and will advise you of the outcome of its assessment.
Our obligations, and yours
As a registered tax agent, we are bound by the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 and its Code of Professional Conduct. Among other things, we must act honestly and with integrity, act lawfully in your best interests, manage conflicts of interest, take reasonable care to ascertain your state of affairs and to apply the taxation laws correctly, and keep your information confidential unless we are required or permitted by law to disclose it.
Clients also have obligations under the taxation laws, including to provide us with complete and accurate information within a reasonable time, to keep the records the law requires, and to lodge and pay on time. The TPB has published a factsheet, Information for clients (www.tpb.gov.au/information-clients-factsheet), which explains the obligations of registered tax practitioners and their clients in more detail. The respective responsibilities of the firm and each client are also set out in our engagement letter.
Matters we are required to disclose
The Code Determination requires us to advise clients of certain prescribed events occurring within the last five years, and of any conditions attached to our registration.
We have nothing to disclose under these requirements. No prescribed events have occurred in relation to the firm or its practitioners, and our registration is not subject to any conditions.
